The 52nd annual
Smelt Fry will be held at the Darwin Rod & Gun Club on Friday,
March 12th from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. – or until the
smelt are gone. The cost is $9 for adults, $4 for children under
12, and free for children under 5. The menu will include smelt,
homemade potato salad, Cole slaw, onions, bread, Kool-Aid and
coffee.

The Plato Lions Club 27th
annual Spring Brunch is on Sunday, March 14th from

the Cosmos American Legion on Sunday, March 14th,

Library is hosting a pottery class for kids in 3rd

A Spring Sports Meeting for
all parents and athletes in grades 7 thru 12 will be held
Monday, March 15th at 7:00 p.m at the Senior High School.
This is a great opportunity to meet with coaches and get
information before the season begins. You will also have
an opportunity to pay fees and check on physicals at the
conclusion of the meeting. All fees for the 2009-10 are
$95 for high school and $50 for middle school.

A Gardener’s Gala will be
held on Tuesday, March 16th from 6-to-9 p.m. at
Litchfield High School. Dr. Mary Meyer from the Minnesota
Landscape Arboretum will be the keynote speaker and there will
be break-out sessions. Admission is $5 at the door. The event is
sponsored by the Meeker County Master Gardeners, Meeker County
Horticulture Society, Litchfield Public Library, and Litchfield
Community Education.

A workshop for livestock
producers utilizing and selling manure as well as crop producers
purchasing manure will be held at the Meeker County Courthouse
on Wednesday, March 17th from 1-to-4 p.m. Refreshments will be

Legion Post 483 and Kingston Lions Club have the annual fish fry

The Knights of Columbus,
Litchfield Council 2029, 4th annual Fish Fry will be
on Friday, March 19th from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. – or
until the fish are gone – at St. Philip’s Church in Litchfield.
The menu will include Alaskan Pollock, baked potato, Cole slaw,
baked beans, dinner rolls, milk, juice, coffee and cookies.
Carry-outs, and delivered meals can be arranged. {The deliveries
have to be an order of at least 5 meals – call 221-3140 by March
17th.} The cost is $9 for adults, $8 for seniors – 65
and older, $5 for children 6-to-12, and free for children 5 and
under.

Association – Crow River Area Chapter – has its 16th
annual banquet on Saturday, April 3rd at the McLeod
County Fairgrounds with social time at 4 p.m. and dinner at 6.

The Dassel Public Library
is hosting Minnesota author Chris Farrell from National Public
Radio's Marketplace Money. Farrell will talk about his new book

The Church of St. Anthony
in Watkins has a fish fry on Friday, March 26th from
4:30-to-8 p.m. in the parish cafeteria. There will be fish,

The annual Palm Sunday
Concert – sponsored by the Grove City Women’s Club – will be on
Sunday, March 28th at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran
Church in Grove City. There will be special numbers performed by
members of the local churches. An offering will be taken for the
Grove City Area CARE program. Refreshments will be served.

be held for Craig and Elaine Sietsema on Sunday, March 28th
from 9-to-1:30 in the Atwater Community Center. There will be a
pancake and sausage breakfast, a silent auction, a bake sale, a
live auction at 12:30 and more. Craig has been battling cancer.

be conducting a food drive during the month of March. Any

Cancer Snowball Challenge

Snowball Cancer
Challenge is a snowmobiling event to raise awareness
and money to help people with cancer. During this
event, Nick Keller will attempt to set a new world
record by snowmobiling over 12,200 miles within 60
consecutive days. Nick is planning on snowmobiling
within the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and
Michigan. This 60 day event is planned to start
between December 2009 and January 2010.
