PAUL FOLEY has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by the Industrial Technology Department. Paul is freshman and the son of Ralph and Donna Foley. Paul works hard in the classroom and is willing to go the extra mile on project work and other assignments. Congratulations Paul!

jordan peterson has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by the Science Department. Jordan is the daughter of Jeff and Toni Peterson. Jordan is always willing to participate in classroom discussions and she is not afraid to ask questions when she doesn't completely understand a concept. She is a regular top scorer on the tests in her class and her lab work is meticulous. Jordan participates in swimming, club swimming and basketball. Congratulations Jordan!

josiah green has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by the English Department. Josiah is the son of Joel and Janell Green. Josiah is a bright and engaging student. He works hard and is thoughful in nature. Josiah exudes maturity and confidence in his preparation, work ethic, and deliberate consideration of coursework. FEBRUARY 14

MOLLY MAUS has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by Mrs. Sundin. Molly is a sophomore and the daughter of Robert and Janet Maus. Molly is a bright student who loves to read. She usually has a book in her hand when she is in the building. She is interested in writing and was a contributor to the Vision magazine last spring. She was also active in the musical production of Beauty and the Beast last fall. Congratulations Molly!

ABDALLA ABU-SARA has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by the Social Studies Department. Abdalla is a junior and the son of Kelly Ervasti and Salman Abd-Sara. Abdalla is a very eager participant and shows a natural curiosity for information in the classroom. He participates in weighlifting, track and field and football. Congratulations Abdalla!

MACKENZIE RAIBER has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by Mr. Thomas in the English Department. Mackenzie is the daughter of Lori Raiber. Mackenzie has been active during her high school years by participating in FCCLA and being a member of the Dragon Yearbook staff. She is also a member of the girl's golf team in the spring. Over the past two years, in his English courses, Erik has set goals and perseveres to achieve them. Devin is a hard worker that comes to school every day ready to learn. He is very polite and always willing to lend a helping hand. Devin is the manager of the boys' basketball. She earned this award for her ability to lead up the trumpet section and for learning to do her band solo. Besides band, Courtney participates in basketball, softball and crosscountry. nicole fisher has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by the Health Department. Nicole is a sophomore and the daughter of Patti and Tony Fisher. Nicole is a very conscience student. She comes to class each day with a smile on her face and ready to participate. She is very complete in her work. She is awesome to have in class. AMY VALIANT has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by John Friederichs. Amy is the daughter of Kent and Lisa Valiant. Academically, Amy has always struggled, but with her strong effort over the course of the first semester, she was able to make the "B" Honor Roll for the first time and may equal that again this quarter. Amy keeps statistics for the girl's basketball team and plans to do the same for the softball team. Congratulations Amy!

Jerrod always has a positve attitude and a smile on his face. He is the FFA chapter officer at large and enjoys working with livestock, either at work or at home. Congratulations Jerrod!

Carter has met the challenge of increased organizational and homework requirements at the high school like a veteran. MIRANDA SPRINGER has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by the Choir Department. Miranda is a junior and the daughter of Jason Springer and Denise Springer. Miranda is a devoted and gracious young lady who comes to extra rehearsals, is a hard worker and will go the extra mile for the sake of the group. She comes to Dragonaires every day looking forward to the art of making music. She has a rich mezzo soprano voice, is excellent at sight reading and is pliable and eager to learn. HEIDI HARPER has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by the World Language Department. Heidi is a sophomore and the daughter of Todd and Denise Harper and Donna and Norman Hagelund. As a motivated student, Heidi has excelled in her Spanish language abilities. Heidi puts forth her best effort every day and is always asking that extra question that makes it all fit together. Heidi participates in theatre, marching band and knowledge bowl. Ellen is incredibly motivated and has a genuine aptitude for science. She often asks thoughtful questions, is helpful in explaining concepts to other students and has great natural curiosity. Katie is a very conscientious student. Her great work ethic, postivie attitude, creativity, and desire to do her best is evident in all her endeavors. MACIE MANNING has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by the Mathematics Department. Macie is a freshman and the daughter of Jim and Sharon Manning. Macie challenges herself daily to reach her maxiumum potential, she is motivated, organized, thoughful and creative in all of her studies. EMILY WOLFF has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by the World Languages Department. Emily is a sophomore and the daughter of Kris Wolff and Dave Wolff. She is proving herself to be an excellent student of the language. Emily is always prepared for class and is quick to participate. Spanish seems to come easily for Emily and she does consistently well on all assignments, test, and projects. Emily is a statistician for the LHS Wrestling team. Congratulations Emily!

He is a leader in his classes and an excellent role model for the other students. When given a task to do, he completes it with quality and craftmanship to a high degree. Congratulations Derek!

NOVEMBER 29

lauren knisley has been chosen as this weeks "Student of the Week" by the Math Department. Lauren is the daughter of Steve and Sherri Knisley. Lauren's attention to detail and desire to understand concepts being taught serve as a great example for her peers. Her homework is always well done. She is always willing to ask questions for any topic she doesn't fully understand and contribute answers in class for concepts she does comprehend. NOVEMBER 22

ERIC MADSEN has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by the Physical Education Department. Eric is a sophomore and the son of Patrick and Marcia Madsen. Eric is receiving this award due impart to his great attitude in class and his fantastic effort in all his endeavors. HANNAH KUECHLE has been chosen as one of this weeks "Student of the Week" by the Art Department. Hannah is the daughter of Chris and Char Kuechle. Hannah continually produces excellent artwork and always puts forth the effort necessary to make her work stand out among the rest. Not only is she a great artist, she also has a personality that will take her far. She has encouraged many of the students in her classes with positive remarks about their artwork. Elle is a conscientious student who makes every effort to master class content. She is extremely motivated and always willing to pose a question to achieve greater understanding. Jerod is a hardworking student that excels at Computer Aided Drafting and Design and Electronics. CASEY sCHLANGEN has been chosen as this weeks "Student of the Week." Casey is a senior and the daughter of Jeff and Paula Schlangen of Watkins. Staff and students alike respect Casey for her leadership abilities and her commitment to excellence academically. Casey is active in volleyball and track, where she throws the discus and the shot put. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, editor of the yearbook and is involved in FFA activities. kristin ellingson has been chosen as this weeks "Student of the Week." Kristin is a senior and the daughter of Jodi Looman of Watkins. Kristin is well respected by the staff and student body for her commitment to excellence. She has been very active as editor of the school newspaper also is the treasurer and key member of the yearbook staff. Kristin works as peer tutor with our younger students and is an excellent role model for our younger students. She is highly successful because of her attitude and desire to succeed. the one-act play cast members have been chosen as this weeks "Students of the Week." Coach Vicki Meyer and her cast were chosen first over four other schools last Saturday at ACGC for their portrayal of "Poor Little Lambs" by Stephen Gregg. One Act plays are 35 minutes in length and are judged by three persons for their authenticity and creativity. EV-W will be competing in the Section 3A One Act Play contest at West Central High School in Barrett, Minnesota on Saturday, Feb. 4th at 1 pm. There will be eight schools competing with the winner advancing to state competition at St. Catherine's in St. Paul on Friday, Feb. 10th. EV-W took home first in the Section One Act in 2008. Congratulations to the student cast and their coach!

DUSTIN BECKER has been chosen as this weeks "Student of the Week." Dustin is a senior and the son of Gary and Jeanette Becker of Eden Valley. Dustin commits himself to excellence in the classroom. Dustin is an outstanding performer in fine arts program for EV-W school. He has participated in musicals and is very active in school plays. Dustin is also active in Speech activites. He is a member of the schools impact program which works with young students who are at risk and also performs community service for the elderly and other residents who need activites completed. brad schlangen has been chosen as this weeks "Student of the Week." Brad is a senior and the son of Dan and Jolene Schlangen of Eden Valley. Brad is a hard worker and has been a positive influence for EV-W students. He is well respected by staff and peers for his work ethic and academic excellence. Brad is a key performer on the track team in the spring for EV-W in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. He was also a student custodial assistanf for the EV-W schools the past three summers. the ev-w carbon cutting club has been chosen as this weeks "Student of the Week." The club has been in existence for three years promoting the use of alternative energy to heat areas and try and find ways to cut the amount of carbons we use in our everyday life. The club was started with a $10,000 grant from the state of Minnesota and was used for solar panels for EV-W High School. With over 20 students in the club from grades 9 thru 12, they have moved from just solar panels to promoting alternative energy usage for people in other life endeavors. They were chosen this week to present at the state Minnesota State School Board Assoication Convention to other schools and board members on the success of the club and how local schools can start a club. EV-W schools are proud of their efforts at promoting something new and thinking creatively out-of-the-box. Congratulations EV-W Carbon Cutting Club!

Renee is a hard worker who is respected by peers and staff alike. Renee participates in track, basketball and cross country. She is a member of the band and and has been involved in a number of music contests . ELI SALO has been chosen as this weeks "Student of the Week."Eli is a senior and the son of Dan and Kim Salo. Eli participates and is successful in a diverse amount of activities. This has made him well rounded and has had many different kinds of experience. Eli is a member of the National Honor Society, Big Brother/Big Sister program and is very successful in music. He plays clarinet and tenor saxophone in the school band and is also been a leader in jazz band. Eli also participates in soccer and golf. Congratulations Eli!!

STEPHANIE WIRZ has been chosen as this weeks "Student of the Week." Stephanie is a senior and the daughter of Chris and Jean Wirz of Watkins. Stephanie is active in the National Honor Society, Big Brother/Big Sister program and is an editor of the school newspaper. She is also active on the school yearbook and is prisident of DECA. Stephanie's greatest achievement is her leadership, presidency and involvement in promoting the EV-W School Carbon Cutting Alternative Energy Student Organization. She was the major player in getting this organization funding and gave it the energy for success. Stephanie has been the major spokesperson for the group and has been featured in other conferences statewide and in other parts of the country for her promotion of alternative energies in school. Stephanie will be successful no matter what she decides to major in because of her perseverance and willingness to challenge herself. Congratulations Stephanie!

DECEMBER 1

BROOKE SCHERER has been chosen as this weeks "Student of the Week."Brooke is a senior and the daughter of Tom and Jenot Scherer of Paynesville. She is a winner who makes people around her a winner as well because of her hard work, perseverance and positive attitude. Brooke is top shelf and her hustle and ability to make things happen in school as well as on the courts and fields, make her one of our best. She has been anointed "Miss Secretary" by the school district because she is the secretary of five organizations which include, Eagles Cry, Aquila, National Honor Soceity, Student Council and Investment Club. Three EV-W Classes has been chosen as this weeks "Students of the Week."EV-W wants to recognize three classes of students whose scores on MCA tests this past spring were designated as exceeding standards for schools in MN. These are individual areas were above and beyond the state averages and should be commended for their efforts. The first class was last years juniors and this years seniors who had 76% of the class pass the junior MCA math test and 72% were demmed proficient and above state standards. This was one of the best scores in Central Minnesota and was in the top tier of state schools on the junior math test. The sophomores of last year and this years junior class had an outstanding performance on the state reading test with 91% scoring proficient on the test. This is the second year in a row the sophomore reading level was over 90% passage on this test. Last year's 5th grade and this years 6th grade students had another great year of MCA testing. They scored over 90% in reading for the third straight year of over proficency while the statwide average was 53%. Congratulations to these EV-W classes.

TRAVIS EISENBACHER has been chosen as this weeks "Student of the Week." Travis is a senior and the son of George and Nancy Eisenbacher of Watkins. Travis is currently ranked #2 in the Class of 2011-12 . He is an outstanding student who challenges himself academically. Travis is active in band, and a leader in the pep band. JENNIFER NOTCH has been chosen as this weeks "Student of the Week."Jennifer is a senior and the daughter of Steve and Deb Notch of Eden Valley. Jennifer is presently the number one student in the Class of 2012.
